NHPC Limited, a Navratna Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, has invited online applications for 1-year Apprenticeship Training across its various projects and power stations in Graduate, Diploma and ITI trades.

The recruitment offers training slots in disciplines such as Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, HR, Finance, Nursing, Pharmacy and various ITI trades, with a monthly stipend ranging from Rs. 12,000/- to Rs. 15,000/-, along with DBT support under the NATS scheme.

Eligible candidates aged 18 to 30 years can apply online from 15 April 2026 to 06 May 2026, and selection will be based on merit with preference given to Project Affected Families and candidates from the concerned district, state and UT.

Educational Qualification

DBT Note: An additional Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) amount of ₹4,000/month for Diploma Apprentices and ₹4,500/month for Graduate Apprentices is provided by the Government of India under the NATS scheme. The above stipend figures are inclusive of DBT wherever applicable. Candidates must have an active Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account.

Age Limit

Candidates must be between 18 and 30 years of age. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC and other reserved categories will be applicable as per Government of India guidelines.

Reservation

Reservation will be followed as per the Apprentice Act 1961. Candidates claiming reservation must submit the requisite certificate in the prescribed Government format issued by the competent authority. Failure to do so will result in the candidate being treated as General category.

NHPC Apprentice Recruitment 2026 – Selection Process

There will be no written examination or interview. Selection will be entirely based on merit, calculated from the candidates’ academic performance.

Graduate Apprentice

  • 10th Class: 20%
  • 12th/Diploma (higher of the two): 20%
  • Engineering/Graduation/PG:60%
  • Total:100

Diploma Technician

  • 10th Class:30%
  • Diploma in Engineering:70%
  • Total:100

ITI Technician

  • 10th Class:30%
  • ITI in Concerned Trade:70%
  • Total: 100

Preference in Selection

Based on merit, preference will be given in the following order:

  1. Candidates from Project Affected Families of the respective Project/Power Station.
  2. Candidates from the concerned district(s) of the State/UT where the project is located.
  3. Candidates from the State/UT where the project is located.
  4. Candidates from other States/UTs based on merit.

As per the official advertisement, no application fee has been prescribed for candidates applying for any category of NHPC Apprentice posts 2026.

How to Apply for NHPC Apprentice Recruitment 2026

The application process is online only and consists of two steps – first registering on the NAPS/NATS portal, then applying on the NHPC official website.

  1. Register on NAPS/NATS Portal: ITI trade candidates must register on NAPS at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Graduate/Diploma trade candidates must register on NATS at nats.education.gov.in. Complete your profile and upload all required documents.
  2. Note your Registration/Enrolment Number: After completing registration, note your NAPS/NATS enrolment number carefully – it will be required for the NHPC application form.
  3. Apply on NHPC Website: Visit nhpcindia.com → Career Section → Engagement of Apprentice → Apply Now. Fill in all required details including trade, personal information, educational qualifications, category and NAPS/NATS enrolment number.
  4. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of – NAPS/NATS Registration Form, 10th Marksheet (Age proof), ITI/Diploma/Degree Marksheets, SC/ST/OBC(NCL) Certificate (if applicable), recent passport-size colour photograph, and signature.
  5. Submit & Save: Review all entries carefully and submit the application before 06 May 2026, 5:00 PM. Save/print a copy of the submitted application for future reference.

Note: candidates should apply for only one region/state/trade. 

Important: Applications made through any mode other than the NHPC official website will not be accepted. Candidates awaiting final results of qualifying examinations and those who have already undergone apprenticeship training of 1 year or more are not eligible to apply.
