Peterborough Councillors to Vote on Prohibiting Distracted Decision Making: Peterborough City Council to vote changes to their procedural bylaw to ban themselves from using electric devices for communications during meetings. Toronto looking to Regulate ‘Iceberg Homes’: These are homes with massive basements, usually in neighbourhoods with strict regulations regarding height and design of above-ground residential homes. CBC
Opposition to Provincial Changes to Municipal Government Pensions: The municipality of Bradford West Gwillimbury is formally opppsing changes to the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) passed by the Ontario Conservative government in Bill 68. Village Media Story
“Furthermore, council is joining with the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) in calling on the provincial government to maintain the current OMERS governance comprised of two corporations. A sponsors corporation pursues the health and long-term viability of the pension plan and an administrative corporation fulfils the duties of administering the plan.”

In a Nov. 7 release, AMO claimed the changes in Bill 68 would result in diminished oversight over that plan.
