MPSC Recruitment 2026 Notification Overview

The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) has officially released a recruitment notification for State Tax Inspector, Police Sub-Inspector and More. Selection Process

  • Stage 1 – Combined Pre-Examination (Samyukt Purva Pariksha): All three posts share a common preliminary examination. The pre-exam carries 100 marks.
  • Stage 2 – Main Examination (Mukhya Pariksha): Candidates shortlisted from the Combined Pre-Examination are eligible to appear for the Main Examination of the respective post. The Main Examination carries 400 marks for Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Combined Service Main Examination.
  • Stage 3 – Physical Test (for Police Sub-Inspector only): Physical endurance test of 100 marks is conducted. Qualifying marks: minimum 60 out of 100 (i.e., 60 marks). Candidates scoring below 60 marks are not eligible for interview/further process. Candidates scoring below 60 marks will also not be considered for final selection.
  • The final result will be declared based on the combined merit of the Main Examination marks and Physical Test marks (for Police Sub-Inspector). 
  • The examination type and process for each post shall follow the service entry rules as below:

    • Assistant Section Officer, Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Service Entry Rules 2018.
    • State Tax Inspector (Tax Collector Inspector) Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Service Entry Rules 2021.
    • Police Sub-Inspector, Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Service Entry Rules 1995.

  • The final result process for the Combined Pre-Examination and Main Examination shall be as per the present Examination Scheme / Method published on the Commission’s website. 

How to Apply

  • Applications are accepted only through the Commission’s Online Application System at https://mpsconline.gov.in
  • Step 1 (One): If you have not previously registered on the Commission’s Online Application Portal, create a new Profile (Account) and register. If you already have an account, log in and update your profile if necessary.
  • Step 2 (Two): Ensure your account is active and complete KYC verification through the Commission’s portal before applying.
  • Step 3 (Three): Complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process on the Commission’s website. The KYC process must be completed as per official Advt. No. ADR-2425/SER.06/2025/MA.TAN. published on 20 June 2025, within the valid period available in the account. The KYC process in the account must be completed independently. 
  • Step 4 (Four): Upload required documents (as applicable) in PDF format within the prescribed file size limits (minimum 50 KB, maximum 500 KB per file)
  • Step 5 (Five): Pay the examination fee online (Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking) or offline (Challan at Indian State Bank branch).
  • Step 6 (Six): Select the district examination centre.
  • Step 7 (Seven): As per the Combined Pre-Examination notification, candidates must apply online via the Commission’s Computer System for the Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) Combined Pre-Examination. 
  • Step 8 (Eight): Based on the Reserved and Unreserved total vacancy count from the Combined Pre-Examination, the number of candidates eligible for the Main Examination will be determined, and a combined merit result of Maharashtra Group-B (Non-Gazetted) service candidates will be declared. 
  • Admit Cards for the examination will be made available on the Commission’s Online Application Portal (https://mpsconline.gov.in) 7 days before the examination date. Download the Admit Card and produce it at the examination centre.
  • The Admit Card cannot be issued to candidates themselves; it must be downloaded by the candidate from the Commission portal. 
  • After the Admit Card is made available, the candidate’s registered mobile number will receive an SMS notification

General Information / Instructions

  • There are a total of 37 district examination centres across Maharashtra for this examination. (Page 1)
  • Candidates who pass the Combined Pre-Examination and qualify for the Main Examination shall declare the Main Examination date themselves.
  • Applications are accepted only through the Commission’s Online Application System. 
  • Application portal: https://mpsconline.gov.in and also available at https://mpsc.gov.in
  • Applications will not be considered without payment of the prescribed examination fee
  • KYC verification through the Commission’s portal (Advt. No. ADR-2425/SER.06/2025/MA.TAN., dated 20 June 2025) must be completed within the prescribed period before applying. 
  • Candidates who claim Economically Weaker Section (EWS) reservation must upload the income/asset certificate for the year 2025–2026 or 2026–2027 by the last acceptance date (30 April 2026). 
  • Candidates who claim Sports Quota reservation must upload the Sports Certificate (Government Decision dated 01 July 2016) along with the application before the deadline. 
  • Divyang (PWD) candidates must upload valid UDID Card (Universal Identification Card) and relevant disability certificate
  • If the Sports Certificate submitted along with the application is not available, or if the document submitted on or before the prescribed date was not complete/valid, then the Sports Reservation claim shall not be accepted. 
  • Candidates must select a district examination centre at the time of applying. Once a district centre is chosen, it cannot be changed under any circumstances.
  • The following documents must be uploaded by reserved category candidates at the time of applying

    • Proof of Social Category (Caste Certificate) – PDF, Min 50 KB, Max 500 KB
    • Economically Weaker Section certificate for year 2025–2026 or 2026–2027 – PDF
    • Valid Non-Creamy Layer Certificate for year 2025–2026 or 2026–2027 – PDF
    • Proof of eligible PWD/Divyang status – PDF
    • Proof of Ex-Serviceman status – PDF
    • Sports Quota Eligibility proof (for Pre-Exam: Sports Proof of Sports Participation Report or Sports Proof document submission record as applicable) – PDF
    • Proof of Anath (Orphan) Reservation eligibility – PDF
    • Domicile Proof for Backward Class, Divyang, Ex-Serviceman, Anath reservation claim – PDF

  • After appointment, selected candidates must have the following educational/professional qualifications:

    • Where departmental/professional examination is compulsory, the candidate must pass such examination as per departmental norms.
    • Hindi and Marathi language proficiency examinations as per applicable rules. 
    • Computer literacy certificate/proof as per Government Resolution (GR) dated 04 February 2013 (Maharashtra IT GR) and revised GR dated 01 July 2016. 

  • Use of mobile phone or any electronic device at the exam hall, examination venue, physical test, or interview venue is strictly prohibited.
  • Candidates must submit all original documents at the time of document verification; failure to do so will render them ineligible for selection/appointment.
